Kate Moomaw-Taylor
Kate Moomaw-Taylor is the Senior Conservator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Denver Art Museum, where she has attended to the needs of modern and contemporary objects, outdoor sculpture, and time-based media since 2011. In her work, she seeks to take a holistic and practical approach that centers people and relationships to provide the best possible care for the collection. Outside the museum, she served on the founding board of the Contemporary Art Network (CAN!) of the American Institute for Conservation (AIC) with the aim of promoting community and exchange amongst conservators of contemporary art in the US. Prior to this, she was the Program Chair for the Electronic Media Group (EMG) of AIC. She appeared as a guest speaker at VoCA’s Artist Interview and Time-Based Media Stewardship Workshops hosted at the Denver Art Museum. She has published on treatments of plastic artworks, the care of participatory artworks, and the establishment of time-based media conservation at the Denver Art Museum. Before her current role, she completed training positions at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Tate, the Stedelijk Museum, and the Museum of Modern Art and graduated in 2007 from the Conservation Center of the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University.
